Aestech News

The World Architecture Festival is the largest event in the world of architecture and design. Every year the festival brings together famous world architects who present their own projects and discuss the latest news of the architecture and construction industries. This year, Aestech took part in WAF2022 and presented its own know-how — insulated glass units of higher stiffness and constructive solutions using them.

Before the official start of the festival, we arranged an informal pre-party. The guests gathered in the most famous design and business center of Lisbon — Myriad Crystal Center — to talk about the latest innovations in world architecture and get to know the Aestech company.

Together with partners, the Ukrainian manufacturer of translucent structures "Parytet Odesa", we created a spectacular large-scale stand, which consisted of two parts: the reception area in the form of the facade system of large-format glass units of various sizes and shapes, as well as a three-dimensional all-glass arch without additional metal supporting constructions.

The arch demonstrated the possibilities offered by the technology in the exterior and interior. With a height of 3.9 m, it was created from 23 glass units of different shapes and fixed at different angles, thanks to which the structure had its own unique look on each side.

The guests could also make sure that Aestech double-glazed windows bear their name for a reason. Anyone willing could put their full weight directly on the glass units and be convinced of their exceptional strength.

Another joint development of ours aroused great interest among WAF guests — a tilt-and-turn sash without the use of visible profiles. This solution allows you to build all the hardware into the glass unit.

We express our personal thanks to the well-known Ukrainian architect Oleksandr Popov for his idea and concept of the stand, which looked like a gem of the festival.

In addition to the presentation of the technology of insulated glass units with increased stiffness, Aestech CEO Leonid Lazebnikov was invited to the Future of Glass panel discussion. Together with the world-famous architect and engineer James O'Callaghan and the program director of the festival, Paul Finch, they talked about the opportunities that glass opens up for architects, the development and prospects of glazing technologies.

“Glass facades without additional holding elements in the form of crossbars and racks should become the main ideology of modern architecture. I am glad that the first presentation of our technology on the European market took place here — at the World Architecture Festival in the capital of Portugal. It's nice that our product and technological solutions received positive feedback and interest from the visitors”.

On the last day of the festival, CEO Aestech evaluated the projects of the separate award The Future Glass Prize. Contestants were the projects from studios from all over the world: from Australia to Great Britain. In the evening, during the gala dinner, the award ceremony was held. The award in the form of a futuristic glass prize sponsored by our company went to MVRDV architecture company (Netherlands, Rotterdam) with the design of the world's first publicly accessible art repository Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.

Aestech CEO Leonid Lazebnikov handed over the award to the partner architect of MVRDV company, Ms. Fokke Moerel.
