A beautiful home does not always need new architecture. Sometimes, changing what we look through can transform how we experience it.

In this completed renovation at a private residence in Sintra, Portugal, we replaced the original segmented glazing with large-format panoramic glass. The ageing system had limitations in thermal insulation and airtightness, while numerous vertical and horizontal profiles divided the view into separate sections.

The renovation preserved the shape of the bay and the character of the facade. With fewer visible elements, the garden, trees and swimming pool now read as a continuous panorama. From outside, the house remains recognisable; from inside, the experience of the space has changed.

For us, renovation is an opportunity to preserve what already makes a home special and remove unnecessary visual barriers between the interior and the surrounding landscape.
